Anbjørg Ohnstad

Anbjørg Ohnstad (b. 1949) is a professor of social psychology who has spent decades researching the lives and relationships of lesbian women. She qualified as a psychologist in 1984, but had already begun working the year before with Oslo’s public health advisory service for homosexuals, where she remained until 1993.

In 1989, Ohnstad and her partner (later wife) Sylvi Sæther appeared on national television in Else Myklebust’s groundbreaking NRK documentary on homosexuality—an appearance that made a lasting impression on the Norwegian public. In the summer of 2016, Skeivt arkiv met with Ohnstad, who spoke about her early years in the Marxist-Leninist movement (AKP-ml) and the intersections of politics, identity, and research.
