Solveig Askjem (born 1936)

As a student in Oslo in the late 1950s, Solveig Askjem fell in love with her first girlfriend. Even then, she was aware of the existence of an organization for homosexuals, but never dared to reach out. In 1973, she met her future wife, Vigdis Bunkholdt. Together, they have been interviewed numerous times by the media and are widely recognized as two of the “ladies from Svensenga” in Oslo.

In the spring of 2016, Skeivt arkiv met with Solveig Askjem, who spoke about her upbringing on a farm in Andebu and reflected on a life shaped by both discretion and courage.
