Using the Archive
The Queer Archives is located in the HF building at the University of Bergen, on the far right of the first floor. Opening hours can be found on our contact page.
Using the Archives
If you wish to research or use the physical archives at the Queer Archives, archival materials must be ordered before your visit via skeivtarkiv@uib.no. Please get in touch well in advance so we can help you determine what you want to look at and prepare the archival materials for use. We are also happy to help with research questions via email or phone.
The organized archives are also searchable in Arkivportalen, where you can find a list of the Queer Archives' archive catalogs.
You can find more information about the archival materials we have received, as well as digitized or born-digital archival materials, in our digital catalogue.
Using Library Materials
If you wish to use the Queer Archives' extensive library of queer academic and fiction literature, journals, member magazines, etc., you can search at oria.no. You can either search directly for what you're looking for or go to a list of all our registered titles . You can also find this list by searching for ubbspesskeiv* in the "department-collection" field under advanced search. There you can also add more search criteria. Journals, antiquarian books, and reference literature are available for loan in the reading room, while other books can also be borrowed for home use.
You can read about many of the journals/magazines we have on Skeivopedia. We also have a searchable register of all articles that have been published in Løvetann. Some of these articles are published and you can read them directly in the digital catalog on our website.
Using Oral History Interviews
If you wish to view any of the Queer Archives' life memory interviews in their entirety, please contact us. The interviews can currently only be viewed in the reading room at the Queer Archives. A list of most interviews can be found on our interview page, where you can browse and watch short clips from each interview and read more about the content and themes. You can also see an overview of those available on Arkivportalen.
Depositing Archives
Read more on our Contribute-page if you have archival materials (digital or physical!) you wish to donate to the archive, or contact us via email (skeivtarkiv@uib.no).
